Postponed weddings

While the state of health emergency ended on July 10, weddings can once again be celebrated. The gatherings and weddings, in this case, are again allowed on the entire territory since June 2 but must continue to be in compliance barriers gestures. Hand washing when entering and leaving the ceremony hall, the social distancing of at least 1 meter between 2 people and no more than 30 people gathered in the wedding hall. Remember that at the local level, and depending on the configuration of the premises, town halls but also reception halls may apply other restrictions. It is therefore essential to educate yourself very precisely on these questions before the big day.

The clusters detected during marriages cause concern

The COVID 19 epidemic is still far from being determined in France and the circulation of the virus even seems to be accelerating during the summer holidays. With the lifting of certain prohibitions relating to the gathering of people, the wedding season has resumed. And if the bride and groom and their guests make efforts to respect distancing and take into account the health risks, the first concerns are already being felt. The regional health agency announced on July 27 that 30 people had tested positive for coronavirus following a wedding celebrated on July 14 on Lake The virus spread quickly after some guests attended other events in the days following the ceremony. Several children were infected including a young girl who attended, after the marriage, a leisure center. BFMTV also learned on July 28 that several cases of Covid-19 had been detected following a wedding celebrated the previous week in Colombes, in the Hauts-de-Seine. " If during the marriage, a person catches the virus because it does not pay enough attention, and he carries it with him, he could create a new home at home or work. The fear can multiplication of this pattern “said Yves Buisson, member of the Academy of Medicine, to Express.

Limited gatherings: how many?

Since July 11, gatherings are no longer limited to 10 people. However, the new Prime Minister reserves the right to restrict or prohibit certain gatherings by decree, at the local level,  if the health situation were to deteriorate.  It would, therefore, seem that at the end of the town hall ceremony, remaining limited to 30 people, the newlyweds can invite a larger number of guests to their wedding party if it takes place in a private room, a restaurant or a house. However, no directive seems to have been given to town halls for the moment concerning a possible enlargement of the number of guests. Thus, at the town hall of Cannes for example, we will continue to limit ourselves to 30 guests as long as the prosecution or the prefect has not given new directives.

Wearing a compulsory mask at the town hall and in places of worship

Since July 20, wearing a mask is mandatory in all "closed public places". This new obligation obviously concerns town halls and all places of worship but also restaurants, floating establishments, marquees, tents and structures, rooms.

Can we get married at the town hall, in private, in a hall?

As announced in a decree by the government, since June 2, it is again possible to celebrate marriages and register PACS in town hall throughout the territory. " The celebration of weddings can be done in the presence of an enlarged assembly, whose number of people is determined according to the size of the wedding hall and the possibility of enforcing the barrier distance of one meter between the parties. people".  The Ministry of the Interior recalls that, until October 30, hygiene measures must continue to be applied  "in all places and in all circumstances, including in private places ". Renting a house should therefore be tolerated, if there is a large garden, for example, which allows space for guests.

 the rooms are authorized to welcome guests under the following conditions  :

The people welcomed must have a seat,

A distance of one seat is left between the seats occupied by each person or each group of fewer than ten people coming together or having reserved together;

Access to spaces allowing people to regroup is prohibited unless they are arranged in such a way as to guarantee sufficient physical distance.

Wearing a mask is compulsory in establishments authorized to welcome the public.

Finally, the bride and groom who wish can obviously choose to organize a wedding meal in a restaurant.  It is up to everyone to be responsible, therefore, to avoid the risk of the virus spreading.

Can we get married in the halls...?

"We will finally be able to start celebrating weddings again. However, the French must remain cautious. " The moment to completely release the tension on religious ceremonies or civil ceremonies has not come," he warned. "We will, therefore, have to be very attentive to physical distancing and density, which correspond to the protocols that have been accepted and implemented ". Measures still relevant, therefore, which allow the celebration of weddings at the town hall, or religious weddings on condition of respecting the barrier gestures and not to meet more than 30 people on the public highway, at the exit of the marriage. Remember that since July 20, wearing a mask has been made compulsory in places of worship.
