This is how pandemic wedding celebrations are: mandatory masks, table service:

The new normal has brought profound changes in the development of daily activities. Limitation of people in social gatherings, mask and mandatory distance in concerts and cultural events, implementation of teleworking ... Changes that have also affected the holding of events that can bring together hundreds of people, as is the case of weddings. Many couples have decided to postpone their big day, but what measures are being taken in the wedding ceremonies that are taking place during these months?

Weddings postponed due to the corona virus: "It was very easy.

In fact, they offered us a refund"

Recently, the Community of Madrid notified the first outbreak associated with a wedding in all over world with nine positive cases for corona virus and 207 people being followed up as they were close contacts.

Thus, these events can continue to be held, but all the hygiene and prevention measures established by the health authorities, at the state and regional level, must be complied with to avoid the risk of contagion and transmission of Covid-19.

Measures established by the Autonomous Communities

During the different phases of the DE-escalation, weddings have suffered restrictions related to capacity, physical distancing, respiratory etiquette or hand hygiene, among others. In the new normal, there are no general regulations or specific measures by the central government. "What to do and what not depends a little on each community, because right now it is no longer comprehensive," says a 20 minutes the president of the Association of Wedding Professionals

Issues such as the allowed capacity depend at this stage on the regulations applied in each region, taking into account as a general rule that "the competent administrations must ensure compliance by the owners of bars, restaurants and other hospitality and catering establishments with the rules of capacity, disinfection, prevention and conditioning to be determined ", highlights Royal Decree-Law 21/2020, of June 9.

In this way, from the  they emphasize that all providers are complying with health regulations and that attendees must always keep in mind the main safety and prevention measures: maintain a physical safety distance of 1.5 meters, keep the respiratory label (mandatory mask) and carry out frequent hand hygiene. In this sense, as the president of the ads, the most important thing is "the awareness of the people."

What about the cocktail? Can you dance?

The cocktail and the dance are two of the main elements in this type of celebrations and they have had to be modified due to the risk of contagion. It should be remembered that family gatherings and / or friends are one of the main sources of contagion today.

Weddings, communions, removals or canceled trips; how to

handle frustration at what corona virus has spoiled

In the case of dancing, "in the vast majority of provinces it is not allowed," says Isaac Salem, although it depends on regional regulations. In regions where it is not allowed, "there must be tables in a chill out mode where a certain number of people can be" .

In the case of the Community of Madrid, the regional executive has established a limit of 10 people per table or group of tables. In addition, the weddings that take place in this region are also limited by the schedule, since all the hotels, restaurants and nightlife establishments will be able to carry out their activity until 01:30.

The halls and farms for holding this type of event have also adapted their facilities to comply with these measures. Thus, they have modified all the furniture in the celebration of the cocktail " so that there can be more points where people are separated into family groups ", they underline 20 minutes .

The buffet service has also disappeared and is not allowed. "The appetizers are served individually and the waiter serves them the plate with the food," they add. The number of people per table has been reduced and "the recommendation is that it be from eight to 10 people", even "there are tables of four or five people because they are family units."

There is also no nightclub and what some couples are doing is hiring live groups to entertain the event. In this way, " the dance floor has disappeared and has been filled with sofas and furniture , like chill out , to prevent people from forming groups

Guest registration for possible outbreaks

Do we need restrictions imposed to stop the corona virus? "People trust their own experience more than the data or the messages they give them"

The APBE recommends in its protocol that at weddings, regardless of the province, a registry of attendees be carried out to facilitate their location in the event of possible outbreaks of Covid-19.

This is one of the measures recently implemented in the Community of Madrid published in Order 920/2020, of July 28. In addition, banquet halls must collect customer data for this purpose and keep it for a period of 28 calendar days with due guarantees.

Some venues where events of this type are held are implementing measures in this regard. They send "a health document to the couple a month in advance so that they can share with guests and suppliers, which they have to bring signed and deliver at the entrance." In this document, they confirm that they voluntarily attend the event, that they have not had compatible symptoms in the last 15 days, nor have they had close contact with a person diagnosed with corona virus.

In addition, "they authorize their temperature to be taken at the entrance of the farm and that they will comply with the protocol in terms of sanitary and hygiene measures," he concludes.
