Wedding decor: how not to save?
Saving without sacrificing the quality of the wedding is real art. Especially when it comes to wedding decor. How to save is definitely not worth it, read our article.
1. Make the decor yourself
Ordering all the decor on
AliExpress, and quickly decorating the venue in the morning on your wedding day
is a very, very bad idea. Firstly, cheap décor from Chinese sites never
looks like the picture. And on the day of the event, nothing can be
changed, you have to be content with what you have. Or even worse: what if
your order gets lost somewhere in the post office right on the eve of the
wedding?
And even if everything comes
on time and the quality suits you completely, it's not a fact that without
skills, knowledge, and experience you can beautifully decorate the site. And
will you have time for this on your wedding day? After all, a full-fledged
installation for a team of professionals takes several hours - are you ready to
allocate 4-5 hours on this long-awaited day just to decorate the guests' tables
and the ceremony area?
2. Allocate money for decor on a leftover basis
Often, the search for a
decorator of the bride is carried out after they have chosen the site, the
photographer, the host. We do not argue that this is really important and
you should not save money here. But, before booking the most expensive
photographer, think about whether you will have money left for good decor?
A photographer is not a
magician, and no matter how cool a professional he is, even he will not turn
the tasteless and cheap decor in a photo into candy. Therefore, at the
very beginning of preparation, distribute the budget according to the main
items of expenditure so that you have enough money for everything, even if you
will deal with decor issues later than looking for a photographer and a venue.
3. Choose the cheapest decorator
There are three reasons why
the price for the services of a certain decorator is significantly lower than
the market price. The most common and obvious one is the poor quality of work. Don't
think that for a penny you can bring beautiful images from Pinterest to life. Rather,
a half-naked arch awaits you, battered tablecloths and flowers of dubious
quality.
Another option is an
incomplete estimate. In the process of preparation, it suddenly turns out
that the decorator's estimate did not take into account important details for
you, that you need to purchase some more materials, carry out additional work. And
all this, of course, will increase the total cost over and over again - and
each time add new reasons for you to worry.
Newbies in the wedding
business who are just developing a portfolio can also offer a low price. And
here it is up to you to choose - are you ready to take risks for the sake of
saving? Yes, decorators who have recently entered the profession have an
attractive price list and burning eyes, but they do not have enough experience
to know reliable suppliers, correctly calculate the installation time, or deal
with force majeure on the wedding day.
4. Prefer quantity over quality
The arch does not have to be
decorated with flowers, and the bridal bouquet does not have to be lush and
voluminous. Yes, if you like it and have money for it - why not? A
flower-filled wedding is always beautiful. But only if it's not cheap
artificial flowers.
We do not argue that it is
permissible to use high-quality artificial flowers for additional volume, but
often brides are chosen according to the principle "if only there was more
decor, if only it was not empty," not paying much attention to quality. But the minimalistic decor also looks very festive and elegant, and at the same time
does not require huge costs
So, if you have to save money
on decor, save on its quantity. Choose minimalistic compositions, abandon
the presidium, use a minimum of colors, combine zones. For example, the
area of the ceremony after its end can become a photo area for guests,
individual compositions can be transferred from the buffet area to the banquet
area, etc.
5. Focus on the little things
Prioritize correctly. If
your décor budget is tight, it's better to invest in good textiles and
floristry than spend all your money on vintage candlesticks or bridesmaid
bouquets. Yes, the little things are important, they add charm to the
wedding, but they will not save the overall picture if you decide to save money
on that. Guests will not enjoy even the most expensive dinner plates if
the food quality is poor.
6. Choose rustic or boho for decoration, because they are
cheaper
There are no unambiguously
expensive and unambiguously cheap styles in wedding decorations. Yes,
usually, the classic decor is more expensive than casual rustic, but a lot depends
on the venue, the number of guests, and the format of the event. Yes, and
rustic - this is not "going out in the field in the morning, picking
flowers for a wedding bouquet", but boho - not "gathered old
furniture and carpets from friends and lit candles everywhere for
comfort."
Wildflowers require a special
approach to themselves - otherwise, they will instantly wither. Not all old
furniture looks good. Cozy garlands of light bulbs cannot be bought for a
penny. And not every site will suit such styles - a classic restaurant
cannot be remade under "boho" or "eco".
In any style there are
"price" pros and cons: at a wedding in a restaurant you will not have
to spend money on tents, heaters, etc. - everything that is required for a
rustic holiday in nature; When organizing a wedding in a loft, you can use
a minimum of floristry. So, choose a style, not for financial reasons, but
based on your personal taste.
